ALEFA works towards enhancing the livelihoods standards /conditions of the community we serve and in so doing we aim at addressing the underlying injustices they face in the economy like discrimination in education and employment opportunities, lack of proper legal documentation, and societal prejudice often trap intersex persons and their families in cycles of poverty, limiting their economic independence and access to basic necessities
To address systemic economic inequalities and empower intersex persons and their families to achieve sustainable livelihoods and economic independence.
We have our programming to provide for
- Providing market driven vocational training programs and entrepreneurial skills development tailored for intersex youth and adults.
- Offering business development support, mentorship, and access to markets for budding entrepreneurs, fostering self-employment and job creation.
- Facilitating access to microfinance opportunities and small business grants to foster economic independence.
- Advocating for fair employment practices and challenging discrimination in the workplace.
- Supporting intersex persons in obtaining accurate identification documents crucial for economic participation.
- Advocating for and supporting the land rights of women, Intersex individuals, and marginalized communities, including legal assistance in land disputes and property registration.
