About Us

Who We Are

Omoro Alliance for Empowerment Foundation (ALEFA) is a non-profit community-based organization established in 2021 by three intersex females. Our mission is to enhance awareness, legal recognition, equity, and quality of life for intersex individuals in Uganda. We operate in Northern Uganda, specifically in the districts of Gulu, Amuru, Omoro and Kitgum.

Since our inception in 2021, we have achieved notable milestones. We have successfully mobilized 60 intersex persons across the three districts through awareness creation efforts. Additionally, we organized eight community outreaches, with three in Kitgum, two in Amuru, and three in Gulu. We have also trained 15 intersex youths in advocacy and movement building. Furthermore, we provided training to 38 individuals in good agronomic practices, enhancing production, productivity, and tree planting. As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, we distributed 1,000 seedlings among 30 intersex households. Moreover, we have referred five cases of intersex injustice to HRAPF (Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum) for redress.
