CLIMATE JUSTICE
To ensure equitable access to quality, non-discriminatory health services and promote holistic well-being for all, with specific attention to the unique health needs of our target communities.
We are aware of the challenges an intersex person face right from infancy to adulthood in regards to health care support which include: Limited access to affirming, non-coercive healthcare, mental health support, and accurate information leads to lifelong physical and psychological trauma. The focus on “normalizing” surgeries rather than holistic well-being further compounds these issues. Intersex face challenges in finding SRHR services
We have designed our programs to cater for the following interventions.
- Promoting access to comprehensive, intersex-affirming healthcare that prioritizes informed consent, mental health support, and psychosocial well-being over “normalizing” surgeries.
- Conducting workshops for healthcare providers to enhance their understanding of intersex variations and provide respectful, non-discriminatory care.
- Creating safe spaces and support networks for intersex persons and their families to share experiences, heal, and build resilience.
- Disseminating accurate health information and advocating for policies that ensure equitable health outcomes for all intersex Ugandans.
- Advocating for and facilitating access to comprehensive, respectful, and non-discriminatory healthcare services for Intersex persons, addressing issues like non-consensual medical interventions, stigmatization, and lack of specialized care.
- Access to SRHR related services like surrogacy, adoption, Hormone Replacement therapy, safe menstrual hygiene management, support for STIs/HIV prevention and control etc.
Holistic Well-being:
- Promoting nutritional security, access to clean water, and sanitation as fundamental determinants of health.
- Integrating sports, arts, and cultural activities into programs to foster positive social connections, resilience, and overall well-being among the intersex peers
